Jesus Wins!

Colossians 2:15 ~ He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

As I sat there biting my fingernails and a pit growing in my stomach watching the election results, I stopped my anxious fretting for a moment and cried, “OK, Jesus!?!” The words I heard were, “I win in the end.” No matter who wins this election or what they do when they are in the White House, Jesus wins in the end. Do I believe that one of these candidates could possibly end the America I love? Yes! However, even if the America that I love ceases to exist, the Lord that I serve will never cease!
I think we are so much closer to the end of the story than we realize. I prayed harder for this election than I’ve ever prayed before, but the main theme of my prayers was, “Thy will be done." This did not take God by surprise. He is not pacing back and forth wondering how this will all turn out. He is not fretting over who will win Nevada! I think the biggest lesson I can take away from all of this is trust God’s plan and trust that the words He spoke thousands of years ago will come to pass.
It may appear that the enemy is winning right now. We have complete calamity in our streets, utter anarchy running on both sides of the political spectrum, children being sold into slavery, babies being aborted by the millions, and church members scared to go to worship God for fear of catching a virus that could kill them, which is escalating the overwhelming feeling of depression. How can it get worse? Well, for those who don't know the end of the story and the one who set the story in motion, it does get worse. However, for those of us who know the truth, this is just the beginning of our victory song!
Jesus not only wins in the end, He has also already won! He won on the cross! The moment He took His last breath and rose from the grave 3 days later, He fought and won our victory. One day very soon, He will come back for us, and we will meet Him in the air as that trumpet sounds. That is the promise that is giving me peace amongst the turmoil swirling around me at the moment. As I push the thoughts of anxiety and fear from the forefront of my mind, I focus on the victory that awaits me through Jesus Christ. My mind drifts towards the worship that He so ardently deserves. That worship forces the enemy to relinquish the hold he tries to keep on my thoughts. We do not need to live in fear of what our future holds, because the one who holds our future already WON!
Every time I think of Jesus winning, I think about that old Carman song, “The Champion.” I can remember listening to this song years ago and every time I ended up on my feet, no matter where I was, screaming, “He has won! He has won! He's alive forevermore! He is risen, He is Lord!” This is a fantastic reminder that no matter where our elected officials lead this country, our true King made a plan at the beginning of time and it will be fulfilled because He already paid the price for the victory! Even so, Lord Jesus come! (Revelations 22:20)
