Do you know the facts?

John 14:15 ~ If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

This past week the bible study I have been doing was over obedience. It’s so easy to allow myself to fall into the lazy, selfishness that keeps me from following God’s commandments.  One of the biggest ones we as believers are asked to follow is making disciples of nations. Telling others is called the “Great Commission” for a reason.  We are put on this earth to lead others to the most amazing opportunity we as humans have, becoming followers of Jesus Christ.

This produced a thought in my mind. Do you know the facts about the Christian faith?  Sometimes I think we think we know, but do you really know how to become a believer and what is expected of you when you do become one?

·       Fact #1 – There is one and only one God. Yahweh, the Creator of the Universe, the Great I Am.  He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the same yesterday and tomorrow. He is Holy, so much so we cannot abide in His holiness without atonement.  For the wages of sin is death.

·       Fact #2 – We are all sinners and fall short of the glory (holiness) of God.

·       Fact #3 – Because of his overwhelming love for us, God sent His one and only son to be the sacrifice that was needed to allow us to abide with Him.

·       Fact #4 – We are allowed to abide with God by believing and accepting the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us.

·       Fact #5 - We become a child of God by asking Jesus Christ to forgive us of our sins and to come into our lives to be our Savior and Lord.

·       Fact #6 – Once we become a child of God we are putting our lives in the hands of our Savior.  Which means He has the right to tell us what to do.

·       Fact #7 – The Bible is God’s Holy Word.  We learn how to follow God and what His commandments are by reading and applying what we read to our lives.

·       Fact #8 – If we love God, truly love Him we will want to keep His commandments.  This dispels that historical argument that states, “Well, Jesus forgives me for whatever I do, so I can just keep doing what I want.”

·       Fact #9 – Hell is a real, horrific place.  Those who do not put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ will spend all of eternity in that unimaginable place, separated from the love of God forever.

·       Fact #10 – The children of God will spend eternity in heaven, abiding in the presence of God.

The facts add up to God had and continues to have a plan for all of mankind. The gift is so simple that sometimes highly intelligent people dismiss it. His grace covers a multitude of sin. All that is required to have that multitude covered is to put your faith in Jesus Christ.  Looking at the simplicity of it does not dismiss the difficulty you may have in fully understanding His grace and how it works.  If you are in a place that you just don’t understand, please reach out to someone who does get it and start asking questions.  I’m always available! Start asking God to reveal Himself and His plan to you.

I have a burden at this time to share the facts, the truth, because the signs of the end are converging on us so rapidly that it is undeniable the day is coming soon that God will take His people home.  We won’t be here to share the truth.  I cannot continue to be polite and stay silent to spare feelings.

Do you know the facts? Do you know Jesus?  Have you put your life in His hands?  If not, why?  What is holding you back?
